2013 Mason Tract Planting Report
During this year one section received maintenance work within the Mason Tract. The Sierra Club, along with Angers of the Au Sable volunteers completed maintenance work in the Chase Bridge area on September 7, 2013. There were a total of 8 replants and 4 new 6-ft cages were installed to protect maturing cedars in this area.
Cedar seedlings within the Mason Tract continue to be monitored; however growth rate is extremely slow.
This initiative is part of the “Cedars for the Au Sable” project which is administrated by the Au Sable River Property Owners Association. Additional partners in this project include Michigan Department of Natural Resources, Forest management Unit and Huron Pines RC&D.
